These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to careerchangefinder.com (the "site"), run by Career Change Finder ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What the site offers

The site gives free information about U.S. careers, pay and college majors, plus career and personality tests and tools for comparing careers. It is meant for general information and personal exploration. You do not need an account, and we do not charge for anything on the site.

No professional advice

The site does not give career, financial, legal, medical or psychological advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship between you and us. Match scores, test results and career lists are estimates built from public data. Please read our Disclaimer before relying on anything on the site, and talk to a qualified professional before making an important decision.

Data and accuracy

Our numbers come from public U.S. government sources, mainly the O*NET 31.0 Database and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as described on our Methodology and Data Sources & Licenses pages. We check them against the original files, but we cannot guarantee that every figure is complete, current or free of error, or that it fits your situation. Licensing and training rules differ by state and change over time; always confirm them with the official body.

How you may use the site

You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes and share links to it. You agree not to:

  • copy, scrape or download the site or its content in bulk, or use automated tools to collect it, except for search engines that follow our robots.txt;
  • republish our text, rankings or page layouts as your own, or use them to build a competing database or service;
  • interfere with the site's security or operation, for example by overloading it, probing for weaknesses or trying to reach parts that are not public;
  • use the site in a way that breaks any law.

Content ownership and licenses

The data we use belongs to its publishers and is used under their licenses, which also apply to you:

  • Information from the O*NET Database is used under the CC BY 4.0 license. O*NET® is a trademark of USDOL/ETA.
  • The O*NET Interest Profiler items are used unchanged under the CC BY-ND 4.0 license.
  • IPIP test items and BLS and NCES data are in the public domain.

Everything else on the site, including our text, guides, match scores, rankings, design and logo, belongs to Career Change Finder. Quoting a short passage with a link back to the page is fine. For any other use, ask us first.

Tests

The tests run in your browser and your answers are not sent to our server (see our Privacy Policy). Results describe your answers only. They are not a diagnosis, a hiring test or a clinical assessment, and our own questions have not been scientifically validated.

The site shows ads and may contain affiliate links, which can earn us a commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. We mark affiliate links on the pages where they appear. Ads and affiliate partners do not affect our data, rankings or match scores.

We link to other websites, including government sources. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, products or privacy practices. Your dealings with any advertiser or partner are between you and them.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will always be available or free of errors or harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Career Change Finder will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of income, data, opportunity or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content, even if we were told such damage was possible. Because the site is free, our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to US $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the decisions you make using information from the site. You agree to cover any claims, losses or costs that arise because you broke these Terms or misused the site.

Changes

We may change the site or these Terms at any time. When we change the Terms we update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated Terms. If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
