This Privacy Policy explains what information Career Change Finder ("we", "us") collects on careerchangefinder.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].

The short version

  • You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to use the site.
  • Your test answers stay in your browser. They are not sent to our server.
  • We use Google AdSense for ads, Google Analytics for visitor statistics, and affiliate links. These services use cookies or similar technology, and you can opt out as described below.

Information we collect

Test answers. The Free Career Test, the Big Five Personality Test and the College Major Quiz run in your browser. To let you continue where you left off, your answers are saved in your browser's local storage on your device and are removed when you finish or restart a test. If you share a result link, the scores are in the part of the link after "#", which browsers do not send to our server.

Server logs. Like most websites, our server automatically records basic technical information for each request: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use it to keep the site secure and working, and we keep it only for a limited time.

Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply and to fix any problem you report.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell lists of names or email addresses.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

Other ad vendors and networks that work with Google may also serve ads on this site. You can learn more about each vendor and opt out at www.aboutads.info/choices. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Where the law requires it, for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message from Google asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown or analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they use and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, device type and approximate location. We look at it only in aggregate and do not use it to identify you. Where consent is required, Google Analytics runs in a limited, cookieless mode until you agree. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We also use Google Search Console, which shows us how our pages appear in Google Search; it does not run on this website or set cookies here.

Some links on the site may be affiliate links. If you click one, the partner's website may set a cookie to record that you came from our site, so that we can earn a commission if you buy something. We do not receive your payment details or personal information from these partners. Their own privacy policies apply on their websites.

Cookies and your choices

You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage in your browser settings. The site still works without cookies; ads may be less relevant, and an unfinished test cannot be resumed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including several U.S. states such as California, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request that it be deleted or corrected, and to opt out of the use of your information for targeted advertising. Because we do not keep accounts, the main ways to exercise the advertising opt-out are the Google and aboutads.info links above. For any other request, email [email protected]. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

Children

This site is meant for adults and college-age students. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We link to government sources and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, and we are not responsible for them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
