Career Change Finder is a free website for people in the United States who want to change careers, choose a career or pick a college major. You can see which jobs use the skills you already have, compare real pay, and take free career and personality tests. There is no sign-up and no paywall.
What we do
- Career change matches. For every job with enough data, we rank the careers whose skills, knowledge, work activities and interests are closest to it, and show the pay difference and the extra education each move usually needs.
- Career profiles and lists. Pay by state, education, the hard parts of each job, similar jobs, and lists such as jobs without a degree or jobs for introverts.
- Free tests. A career test built on the official O*NET Interest Profiler, a Big Five personality test and a college major quiz. They run in your browser, and your answers are not sent to us.
Where the numbers come from
Every number on the site comes from public U.S. government data: the O*NET 31.0 Database (U.S. Department of Labor), BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (May 2025), the BLS Current Population Survey and NCES. We do not edit source numbers, and every build is checked against the original files. The full rules are on our Methodology page, and every source and license is listed on Data Sources & Licenses.
What we are not
We are an independent website. We are not part of, and are not endorsed by, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Center for O*NET Development or NCES. We are not career counselors, and a match score is an estimate, not a promise. For one-on-one help, an American Job Center near you offers free career services.
How the site is paid for
The site is free because it shows ads (Google AdSense) and may contain affiliate links, which can pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Advertisers and affiliate partners never decide which careers we rank, what the data says or how we score a match. See our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.
